"Raise Your Voices (Songs Celebrating the Kids Who Are Changing the World" is an inspiring collection of new music by Jenn Hartmann Luck, featuring songs celebrating the real kids from across the country who are making the world a better place. Themes on the album range from helping the fight against hunger, anti-bullying, cancer research, animal conservation, to keeping the oceans clean and were inspired by interviews with kids who have done something in their community (or world!) to give back and make a difference. A percentage of every song on the album supports a charity chosen by the young people themselves. Thank you for supporting The RAISE YOUR VOICES Project!

about
This song is inspired by Olivia Ohlson of Evanston, Illinois. When she was 8 her mother was diagnosed with cancer and she wanted to help. So she started hosting lemonade stands to help raise money for cancer research. She eventually started finding ways to support her community in many ways and is doing so still today. 15% of all song downloads go back to support the Northshore University System, Kellogg Cancer Center.
lyrics
My momma taught me when I was young
You gotta give when you’ve got some…thing
And other people, they’ve got none
My momma showed me when I was young
You gotta stand up when others aren’t strong enough
And all those people, they could use some love
But then she needed support herself
Then she needed someone else
I was small, but I knew how I could help
I stood up
I made lemonade
Out of the lemons that laid
in front of me
I helped my family
Oh, I stood up
I made lemonade
To help the others who needed
Care like my mother did
I made lemonade
And I stood up
Even though I was just a kid
So now my momma is feeling better
But I’m still out there being a helper
‘cause there’s so much need out there
Oh I show up cause someone has to
Yeah I bring help to all those who
need a hand
We all could use a hand
I’ve made blankets, Packed Lunches
Baked cookies, passed out kits
I’ve helped seniors, and I’ve tutored
I’ll be your good steward!
I stand up
I make lemonade
Out of these lemons that lay
in front of me
I help my community
Oh, I stand up
I make lemonade
And help the others who need
Care like my mother did
I make lemonade
And I stand up
Even though I’m just a kid
My momma showed me when I was young
You gotta stand up when others aren’t strong enough
And all those people, they could use some love
